A hickey, also known as a love bite or kiss mark, is a bruise-like mark caused by kissing or sucking on the skin. Hickeys are typically red or purple and can last for several days. They are often considered a sign of affection or passion, but they can also be seen as a sign of aggression or dominance.
Hickeys are caused by the rupture of small blood vessels under the skin. When someone kisses or sucks on the skin, they create a vacuum that draws blood to the surface. This can cause the blood vessels to break and the blood to leak into the surrounding tissue. The resulting bruise is what is known as a hickey.
